Our luxuriously soft blankets are available in two different sizes and feature incredible artwork on the top surface. The bottom surface is white. Our 100% polyester blankets are available in two different styles: plush fleece and sherpa fleece. Plush fleece blankets are soft and fluffy on both sides, whereas sherpa blankets are smooth like a soft sweater on the artwork side (i.e. shorter threads) which provides for a sharper image. Looking for a recommendation? Go with a 60" x 80" plush fleece blanket. It's soft and luxurious on both sides... the artwork looks incredible... and the size is just right for everyone.

Artist's Description

The South Park Drive-In Theatre, one of about seven in this area, was a family entertainment center in the '50's. Opening in 1950, it featured a snack bar with everything from popcorn to fried chicken, a playground, and a concrete patio for lawn chairs.

This scene, "A Summer Remembered", depicts the first day of summer in 1956. Tickets for adults were $ .44 and kids under 12 got in free. Sometimes those over 12 tried to get in free. It didn't always work! As in my previous '50's paintings, my 1941 Cadillac Series 75 Limosine can be seen, this time in its primer coat which earned it the nickname "Grey Ghost."

Notes from the artist:

Many of the classic cars featured in nostalgic paintings were ones that I obtained or my Dad did, such as the '47 Chrysler, and the '54 Chevy Bel-Air. My '56 Buick Century was a hard top. The Classic '56 corvette reflects the South Park Drive-In neon colors which I found through interviewing the original manager who opened the drive-in...

About Randy Welborn

Randy Welborn

I remember like it was yesterday... The little black box of PRANG watercolors I received at Christmas when I was seven started me on a lifelong love of drawing and painting. Rendering the images of every comic book character from Mickey Mouse to Superman and Little Lulu furthered my art education. Little Golden Books, "The Color Kittens," taught me the basics of mixing colors. Then a magical experience happened! At the Jefferson Theater in downtown Beaumont, Texas (where I was born and raised), I saw Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Eagerly I awaited each new release through the years: Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and Lady and the Tramp. At 12, I started an art notebook and bought my first oil paints. At 14,...
