Product Details

Our luxuriously soft blankets are available in two different sizes and feature incredible artwork on the top surface. The bottom surface is white. Our 100% polyester blankets are available in two different styles: plush fleece and sherpa fleece. Plush fleece blankets are soft and fluffy on both sides, whereas sherpa blankets are smooth like a soft sweater on the artwork side (i.e. shorter threads) which provides for a sharper image. Looking for a recommendation? Go with a 60" x 80" plush fleece blanket. It's soft and luxurious on both sides... the artwork looks incredible... and the size is just right for everyone.

Artist's Description

In the fifties, downtown Beaumont still buzzed with activity on a Friday night, and the center of attraction was the movies palace of the area, the Jefferson Theatre.

This nostalgic painting depicts one of those occasions, specifically, March 29th 1955, the artist's birthday. There's a new DeSoto on the left and on the right is the artist's first car - a 1941 Cadillac Series 75 Limosine, both classic cars of the 50s era.

A man on the right is reading a poster that advertises the movie "Battle Cry" at the Liberty Theatre. See if you can find the guy looking for a friend's arrival. He's wearing a white sport coat and a pink carnation!

Notes from the artist:

In 1983 I wanted to do a painting of the Jefferson Theatre as I remembered as a kid. I picked my twelfth birthday and looked up which movie was playing that day in the Beaumont Enterprise microfilm collection at Lamar University. "Twist of Fate" starring Ginger Rogers was it. I was able to get an origina...

About Randy Welborn

Randy Welborn

I remember like it was yesterday... The little black box of PRANG watercolors I received at Christmas when I was seven started me on a lifelong love of drawing and painting. Rendering the images of every comic book character from Mickey Mouse to Superman and Little Lulu furthered my art education. Little Golden Books, "The Color Kittens," taught me the basics of mixing colors. Then a magical experience happened! At the Jefferson Theater in downtown Beaumont, Texas (where I was born and raised), I saw Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Eagerly I awaited each new release through the years: Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and Lady and the Tramp. At 12, I started an art notebook and bought my first oil paints. At 14,...
