Product Details

Our luxuriously soft blankets are available in two different sizes and feature incredible artwork on the top surface. The bottom surface is white. Our 100% polyester blankets are available in two different styles: plush fleece and sherpa fleece. Plush fleece blankets are soft and fluffy on both sides, whereas sherpa blankets are smooth like a soft sweater on the artwork side (i.e. shorter threads) which provides for a sharper image. Looking for a recommendation? Go with a 60" x 80" plush fleece blanket. It's soft and luxurious on both sides... the artwork looks incredible... and the size is just right for everyone.

Artist's Description

The "Organ Club" was organized in 1928, one year after the opening of the Jefferson Theatre. Each Saturday morning kids were treated to cartoons, serials and special features. While Al Sacker played, the Mighty Morton Wonder Organ would rise dramatically from the orchestra pit.

This scene is June 2, 1951. Voting is in progress for the talent contest. The first "short" will be "Rushin' Ballet" with the Little Rascals. Then Woody Woodpecker and Tweety cartoons followed by a new chapter of Undersea Kingdom. The feature film will be "The Thing! From Another World".

Notes from the artist:

To this day "The Thing" remains one of the scariest movies ever made - a real classic and the Jefferson Theatre in the '50s era was somewhat scary and mysterious. The Kiddie show on Saturday started about 9:00 AM and was over just in time to catch the one at the Liberty Theatre which started at 1:00 PM.

My son, Bryan Welborn, started working with me on this nostalgic 50s scen...

Randy Welborn

I remember like it was yesterday... The little black box of PRANG watercolors I received at Christmas when I was seven started me on a lifelong love of drawing and painting. Rendering the images of every comic book character from Mickey Mouse to Superman and Little Lulu furthered my art education. Little Golden Books, "The Color Kittens," taught me the basics of mixing colors. Then a magical experience happened! At the Jefferson Theater in downtown Beaumont, Texas (where I was born and raised), I saw Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Eagerly I awaited each new release through the years: Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and Lady and the Tramp. At 12, I started an art notebook and bought my first oil paints. At 14,...
