Artist's Description

This painting depicts a vibrant scene of a shrimp boat just outside Hill's Restaurant at Pier 19 in Galveston, Texas. I tried to captured the bustling atmosphere of the docks, with the boat moored at the pier with the fisherman busy tending to his work. The boat’s weathered hull and crowded deck painted in whites and reds that have seen better days. The shrimp tackle and buckets crowd the deck and the net is pulled up high.

The overall mood of the painting is one of lively activity and contentment. I’ve used a bright, sun-drenched palette, with gentle reflections and loose brushstrokes to convey a sense of fond recollection and nostalgia. The scene is imbued with a sense of familiarity and comfort, reflecting water like reflecting memories from the past.
